Amboseli is the easiest big park to do with children and older relatives. The drive from Nairobi is about four hours on good road, the camps are comfortable, and the elephants walk in front of Kilimanjaro on clear mornings. Two nights is enough to see it properly without tiring anyone out.

Then the coast: three nights in a private villa near Diani or Watamu, with a cook and a pool, close to the beach and a marine park. The children snorkel, the adults rest, and every meal is at home.

Mixed passports are normal in diaspora families. Kenyan citizens pay citizen park rates, which are much lower; spouses and children on foreign passports pay non-resident rates. We get both prices so the quote is right, and we make sure everyone carries the documents the gate will ask for.

What the trip price covers

  • Private vehicle and guide in Amboseli
  • Safari camp and private coast villa with a cook
  • Transfer between Amboseli and the coast, as quoted
  • Park and marine park fees at the right rate for each passport

International flights, visas and the Kenya eTA, travel insurance, tips and drinks are not included unless your quote says so.

Who checks the operator

We do, before we recommend them. This trip is run, contracted and invoiced by a tour operator licensed by Kenya’s Tourism Regulatory Authority. Your planning fee pays for the plan and the checks; we take nothing from the operator.

  • Tourism Regulatory Authority licence, checked against the regulator’s own records
  • NTSA tourist service licence for the vehicles you ride in
  • Public liability insurance in date, with a copy on file
  • Guide qualifications and, for walking and riding, the camp’s safety procedures
  • Recent client references we can contact
  • For halal trips, each camp’s confirmation in writing
