You pay for the plan, not a markup

Most safari prices hide a commission paid to whoever sold the trip. We charge a fixed planning fee instead, take nothing from operators, and leave you contracting directly with a licensed company.

Who does what

Private Travels by Omutsani

We plan and check

We design the itinerary, ask two or three operators to quote where the trip allows, check each one, and tell you which we would pick and why. An adviser paid by you has no reason to sell you an operator.

  • Tourism Regulatory Authority licence, checked against the regulator’s own records
  • NTSA tourist service licence for the vehicles you ride in
  • Public liability insurance in date, with a copy on file
  • Guide qualifications and, for walking and riding, the camp’s safety procedures
  • Recent client references we can contact
  • For halal trips, each camp’s confirmation in writing
The licensed operator

The operator runs the trip

A tour operator licensed by the Tourism Regulatory Authority contracts with you, takes your payment, provides the vehicles, guides and bookings, and is responsible for the trip on the ground.

Questions

Why not book through the operator directly?

You can, and you will: the operator contracts and invoices you. What you pay us for is choosing the right operator and camps, comparing quotes, and checking licences, vehicles and insurance first. We take nothing from the operator, so the advice is not for sale.

Are you a tour operator?

No. We are travel consultants. Every trip is run by a tour operator licensed by Kenya’s Tourism Regulatory Authority, and you can see that licence before you pay.

What does the planning fee cover?

A written itinerary, quotes from two or three operators where the trip allows, a verification sheet for the operator you choose, and WhatsApp support while you travel. The fee is due before planning starts and is not refundable once the itinerary is delivered.

How are prices shown?

Trip prices on this site are indicative from-prices per person sharing. The operator’s written quote is the real price, and you see it before committing to anything.

Do residents and citizens pay less?

Usually, yes. Park and conservancy fees for Kenyan citizens and residents are far lower than non-resident fees, and many camps have resident rates. We ask for the right rate for each passport in your group.
